first post :)

Hello all! I am going to start posting recipes that i try and that are worth sharing.

I'll start today with my absolute FAVORITE recipe for a main dish. It may take a few hours, however, it's the easiest. I'm all about an easy, yet TASTY dish.

Beef Brisket

ingredients:
1 tablespoon thyme leaves (i didn't use fresh thyme)
1 tablespoon paprika
2 teaspoons black pepper
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic pepper
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
3 pounds beef brisket ( i left the fat on)
1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke for flavoring
2 tablespoons Worcestershire
1 1/2 BBQ sauce ( i used Clint's original spicy--very yummy)

directions:
1. combine thyme, paprika, pepper, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and cumin in a small bowl; set aside. Rub brisket all over with liquid smoke, and then rub with spice mixture. I did this at night and left it in the refrigerator over night.
2. pour Worcestershire and BBQ sauce into slow cooker, place spice covered beef on top. Cover, and cook on LOW for 8-10 hours.

comments:
i had a little bit of a time trying to find a brisket, but i got mine at HEB in the packed meat section. i guess some store have butcher counters? however, anything near me, didn't have one. i put in the brisket in the morning before work at like 6 am, and when i got home at 5, i checked on it. the mixture was a little spicy, but don't fret because the it is the perfect amount of spicy for the beef. the sauce was spicier than the actual meat. i took the beef out and put it on the serving platter, and used the left over liquid as sort of a "gravy". the 3 pounds was perfect for me and my boyfriend--delicious meal with so little work! it saved well too, probably the best lunch i've had at work too.
